IMPLEMENTING ERGONOMICS AT THE WORKPLACE ON YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY

How many hours do you sit per day? Do you perhaps feel that your office chair does not fit optimally, the table is too low or too high and your neck hurts? Do you just accept that or would you like to change something about it? If so, do you know who to contact? Or would you like a guide to help you take care of a healthier posture yourself?

As a specialist in healthy sitting, we are particularly concerned to make access to the subject of ergonomics as easy as possible. In our ergonomics consultations, we explain how seating furniture and desks can be optimally adjusted to your own body and give individual tips on healthy sitting. Above all, we also emphasize that our bodies are not actually made for sitting and that it is therefore all the more important that we move regularly. Ideally, by standing up from time to time or making a phone call in between. In the best case scenario, we also use ergonomic furniture that allows movement even while sitting and enables a quick change of position through simple height adjustability.

However, we also know that the circumstances in everyday working life do not always prove to be optimal, that the majority of office workers remain in an immobile posture for a very long time, height-adjustable desks are not available and therefore the height of the office chair is not or hardly changed. If then in this rigid posture the screen, table and chair height are not adapted to the individual physique, back problems are often pre-programmed.

React early

Often, poor posture only becomes apparent when the first pain appears in the lower back or neck, not infrequently accompanied by eyestrain. In many cases, a new piece of seating furniture is the solution, but in other situations the problem can already be solved with a change in working posture. With the new ergonomics tool from the Austrian startup be:ergo, we now offer our customers the opportunity to independently check the correct posture even at home or in the office before pain occurs. The tool was developed according to the latest findings in occupational medicine together with international experts and offers an exact and efficient method to align the working environment according to one’s own requirements. In addition to the optimal sitting or standing position, the correct reading distance and viewing angle to the screen are also important.

The certified and patented tool be:ergo is an ergonomic instrument for self-application that enables optimal adjustment of the screen or laptop in just three steps and thus ensures a healthier posture. Because we know, the ideal seating furniture plays a central role when it comes to a healthy back, but just as important is whether this is also best adjusted to the height of the desk and the position of the screen. This tuning depends very much on the user and is therefore always individual.

Keep at it

We have been advising people on the subject of ergonomics for over 20 years and have always encouraged people to take responsibility for their own health. As an expert in alternative seating solutions, we are also known in particular for always including all components in the individual consultation in order to be able to optimally address the needs of the customer.

There are already many different approaches in the ergonomics sector and we are convinced that there are so many because everyone needs something different. Get inspiration and information wherever you see fit. Get advice, find out what you personally need to have a good seating experience. And then – stay tuned. Take a few minutes each day to find the right position. Some days you might work more on your laptop on other days on a big screen, every now and then maybe on the train or in a coffee shop. The point in any situation is to consciously pay attention to your body. Thus, with a few simple methods, you always have your health in your own hands.
